About My Clinical Outcomes

Company Overview

My Clinical Outcomes (MCO) is an exciting and growing digital health company that aims to transform how healthcare is delivered. MCO software is used to collect and track outcomes data from patients with any medical condition throughout treatment and beyond. Clinicians and hospitals can use this remotely collected data in real-time to make better clinical decisions that can help increase survival, improve quality of life and make care pathways more efficient. MCO has clients across the UK NHS and private sector, including Spire Healthcare, HCA healthcare UK and Circle health Group, pharmaceutical company partnerships, as well as a strong international pipeline of opportunities.

Market Context

As demand for healthcare grows around the world and costs spiral, there is an urgent need to make treatment pathways as efficient and effective as possible. MCO is a digital platform for the remote, digital collection and analysis of Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs). We provide healthcare providers and payers with rich new data and insights into patients’ Quality of Life and about the actual results of care from the perspective of the patient themselves. This data can then be used to make better individual clinical decisions, to prioritise limited resources according to the needs of patients, as well as to analyse unwarranted variation between different groups to improve the overall quality of care and drive better value-for-money.

Covid-19 has catalysed the digital transformation of healthcare at unprecedented pace and scale with hospitals rapidly adopting tools like MCO to help prioritise the backlog of patients whose treatment has been delayed and minimise face-to-face contact going forward, while ensuring limited resources are utilised as efficiently as possible and that quality of care is maintained.

Research has shown that using digital tools similar to MCO can improve survival in patients with advanced cancer by an average of five months by allowing doctors and specialist nurses to intervene based on the remotely collected data to make care more personalised and reduce acute deterioration and unplanned admissions.

Who We Are

MCO was founded in 2011 by doctors keen to create a useful and usable web-platform to help colleagues remotely monitor and manage their patients. MCO has been in constant clinical use and development ever since, and is currently live at over 200 UK NHS and private hospitals.

MCO is a dynamic company of passionate software developers, analysts and digital healthcare specialists. We are and have been involved in a number of leading innovation programmes such as the Digital Health London Accelerator programme, NHS Scotland’s Cancer Innovation Challenge, GE Healthcare’s ‘Edison Accelerator’ programme, and are engaged with the pan-European H2O Health Outcomes Observatory project that has 24 healthcare partners across 4 EU countries covering 3 disease areas.

Our Work

MCO works in any clinical area and is in use across a wide range of different conditions.

For example:

  • Having won a highly competitive public procurement we are rolling out to 50 clinical areas at NHS Wales’ largest Health Board, Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, over 3 years.

  • MCO has been in use across the University Hospitals Sussex oncology service for 2+ years in a project that has demonstrated improved patient Quality of Life and reduced unplanned admissions such that a cost saving of £1.40 for every £1 invested was demonstrated by independent health economic analysis with results published in the British Medical Journal. As a result the local Integrated Care Board, NHS Sussex, are scaling MCO out across the region in 10 workstreams covering a range of clinical areas and including supporting innovative virtual ward initiatives.

  • In the Private Sector we have worked with Spire Healthcare across all 40 of their hospitals since 2016, launched across Circle Health Group’s 48 hospitals in May 2023, and roll-out across HCA UK’s prestigious London hospitals in a 5 year programme starting the summer.

  • We have implemented bespoke, condition-specific versions of the platform for use by Novartis’ healthcare partners in areas as diverse as Migraine, Multiple Sclerosis and Myeloproliferative Neoplasms (blood cancer) and are engaged with a number of other global pharmaceutical partners.

MCO is a Software-as-a-Service web platform that is highly accessible on any mobile device, has been extensively user tested, and is certified by the BSI as compliant with ISO27001 for Information Security Management.
