St Joseph’s Hospital

PROMs in Wales

March 2023

St Joseph’s Hospital has announced its partnership with My Clinical Outcomes (MCO). Over the coming weeks, they will be introducing PROMS (Patient Reported Outcome Measures) to record and monitor patient outcomes following surgery. PROMs are focused on collecting patient feedback to enquire about their health status, pre and post-treatment. PROMs data will be shared with the Private Healthcare Information Network (PHIN) to empower patients to make better-informed choices when choosing private treatment.

St Joseph’s Hospital looks forward to introducing the service and supporting patients throughout their journey, improving their care and experience. They are moving ahead of the curve and bring valued based private healthcare to the forefront of the conversation.

The My Clinical Outcomes (MCO) interface uses PROMs to allow doctors to remotely monitor their patients’ condition over time. MCO engages with clients at an enterprise level to support overarching business objectives, which puts the patient at the heart of everything St Joseph’s Hospital does. MCO has real-time access to outcome and data results, enhancing the patient journey, improving safety and quality and not just meeting the industry's regulatory requirements.

St Joseph’s Hospital is one of the first independent hospitals in Wales to adopt this style of PROMs and move things forward digitally. Whilst doing so, they are also enhancing their patient-centred approach and demonstrating their commitment to bringing transparency to the sector for the benefit of patients.

Stuart Hammond, CEO at St Joseph’s Hospital, commented on the partnership, “We are thrilled to be working with MCO to introduce PROMs to measure our patient outcomes and see the value added to our patients' lives. As a hospital, we look forward to learning more about the patient journey and how their treatment benefits them, whilst also monitoring any areas for improvement. We hope to use the data collected to improve our patient journey and the care we provide.”

St Joseph’s Hospital are proud to be taking a step forward to improving the capture of patient feedback data. It is critical to understand the benefits and outcomes of surgery, how the hospital performs and a fantastic opportunity to work with MCO.

Dr Tim Williams, Co-founder and CEO of My Clinical Outcomes said of the partnership: “We are delighted to be working with St Joseph’s Hospital to help them use PROMs to measure the impact their care has on patients’ lives. My Clinical Outcomes will allow St Joseph’s to use technology to gain a deeper understanding of their patients’ journey, their treatment outcomes and the benefits of treatment and surgery. MCO’s easy-to-use communication and reporting interface is part of the future of healthcare, and St Joseph’s is at the forefront of that progression.”
